Most instant pot recipe books I have seen so far are poor to mediocre. However, this one actually has some descent recipes that are tasty and don’t call for bizarre ingredients

So many wonderful recipes are offered in this cookbook. Directions are easy to follow. We're Italian food fans so this is perfect for us. Have made a couple of recipes and they've both been delicious.

I just tried the Meatballs, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, and Argula and it was delicious! And in Instant Pot fashion super easy!! She gives many good tips on products to buy and how they make a difference. I'll be trying many more of these recipes!!

I love Italian and Mediterranean food, so I was excited to get this cookbook. However, although everything looks really delicious, the recipes seem somewhat time-consuming. For example, the salt cod mousse requires you to soak the salt cod for 48 hours. When I'm trying to plan dinner, I usually have about 1/48 of that time.But if you want to serve a fancy Italian dinner, this might be the perfect book for you.

Wonderful collection of recipes. Had no idea my Instant Pot was so versatile with Italian!

I was very disappointed that there was not a lasagna or spaghetti recipe in the book. Instead it focused on off-beat dishes. I personally think the book is a waste of money.

Easy to follow instructions. Amazing taste. What else do you need from a cookbook? How about glorious images and you can plate the food just like the pics. Really. I impress my family and guests every time I pull this book out. It's one of my favorite cookbooks.

I'm so glad I discovered this book because until I did, I was just so-so on my new Instant Pot. Unlike some other Instant Pot books I've checked out, Ivy's directions are clear and thorough. I've made a handful of recipes so far, and they've all been delicious. The Chicago-Style Italian Beef is a winner. Make the Quick Giardiniera to go with it. Also, the Cream if Mushroom soup is perfect (even without the cream). Next up I'm going to try the Tuscan Chicken Liver Pate and I look forward to the Pasta with fresh Tuna as well.

Time for another Mail-Order-Bride story! Starting in Independence, Missouri, 1852 a wagon train with 55 wagons and 103 mail-order-brides heads out for a long and arduous journey to Oregon City in the Washington Territory. Hannnah Granger was not to be a bride, but was going on the trip with her sister, Lydia. Joe Stanton is a bounty hunter who gets hired to help protect the train. Joe and Hannah have instant chemistry. He is flirty which Hannah finds “scandalous” but funny. “I figure we’re headed to a new, young land and old ediquette doesn’t matter.”The author writes knowledgeably about the wagon train historical experience with lots of great detail. The characterizations are well done, with typical issues attributable to Hannah and Joe. Another editing is necessary to correct a number of errors. At one point one paragraph is repeated. However, the errors will not reduce your enjoyment of this entertaining Western romance!

The author described in detail the logistics of wagon trains and crossing the plains. I was impressed at how she knew so much about the West. I was disappointed in the characters, though. The women were very unlike the true pioneers—swearing, letting men bathe their feet, being alone with men, etc.The morals were not of the 1800’s wagon train but of a 20something college campus. The speaking and thought processes were modern day and not old fashioned. The plot was unique but I do wish the writing had been cleaner and much more moral. I didn’t finish because of that.

Image being part of a wagon train going miles across the country to Oregon and having to fend for yourself! It made me remember the series Wagon Train that I was fascinated with when I was younger. Heck, who am I kidding? I still watch it when I can!! Traveling with a group of mail order brides, Hannah felt she could not let her younger sister Lydia go alone, as Lydia was traveling to meet the man she agreed to marry in Oregon. What Hannah doesn't expect is to meet Joe Stanton, a bounty hunter who joins the journey.You see Hannah has always known her sister Lydia is the one men flock to and her hope is to just open a dress store once they get to Oregon. But as fate steps in as it often does, she and Joe become attracted but outside forces push them together quickly. Can they find love when Joe is so against that emotion because he had been hurt in the past?An adventure that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can and experiencing the danger and love along the Oregon Trail. This author writes wonderful stories that take you away to a different time and place and will make your heart smile at the end!

Cynthia has hit another book out of the park. Hannah and Lydia started out on the brides wagon train to Oregon City where Lydia was suppose to be married and Hannah was not going to be a bride she was with her sister and had plans to open a dress shop. One evening Hannah meets Joe and looses her heart to him I really think that Joe and Hannah have a love story that many cant find. I would love to have another story about them or at least a update they are such a great couple. If you love Cynthia's books you will love this one or if you have never read one of her books you will love this one its a page turner and a fast read you can't go wrong.

This is the second Cynthia Wolfe book that I’ve read, and I don’t really like her writing style. It’s very simplistic and can be frustrating to read. It’s like See Jane. See Jane run. See Jane fall. I just can’t do it.I don’t necessarily mind when characters speak in a more modern tone in historical novels, but a 19th century person saying oh, crap? Come on. 🙄 And and a man saying that freckles are cute? 🙄Hannah came across as being a modern women. The way the characters spoke and the way that they interacted with each other made story the story feel like a modeling story just that says it’s set in the 19th century.All of these things put together made the story hard to read. I couldn’t read past 20%. No more Cynthia Wolfe books for me.

Loved this book! Hannah and Joe are great characters. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I hope Hannah's sister Lydia gets her own book. This is a great start to a new series.

Hannah goes with her sister Lydia on a wagon train. Lydia has agreed to be a mail order bride and Hannah goes with her younger sister. There she meets Joe who is a bounty hunter working as the wagon trail guide. All the characters are well developed and interesting. Very curious to find out how Lydia does with her husband and her collection of animals. It's my next read

I really, really liked this book, and that's saying something since I don't like "clean" or Christian romance novels. There's no nookie in this book, but the strong characters, action and interesting storyline more than made up for what I normally would be finding fault for. I can't wait to read more books by Cynthia Woolf to see what else she comes up with!!!

Some of my fondest memories of 22 years as an Air Force jet fighter pilot center around countless rowdy song fests in the officers' clubs, squadron pilots' lounges, and flightlines of military bases on three continents. A not so fond memory are the countless times the raucous merry making came to an abrupt halt in the middle of a song because no one knew or remembered the lyrics. When I cut the six warrior albums, I vowed to remedy that despicable circumstance. RBAAB: The Red-Blooded All-American Boy came to be. The book was done deliberately in soft cover and of the dimensions to fit in a flight suit pocket with the zipper closed. This way G. I. Joe, hotrock jet fighter aviator, could always be mission ready to direct the boys' choir at the next rowdy song fest. The song lyrics and accompanying stories vary from hilarious to poignant to informative to inspiring, and sometimes all of the above, and in every case top-notch entertainment.Having sung many of Dick's songs along with F-15 drivers at parties down at Tyndall AFB, FL, I can tell you that the book and the music capture the fighter pilot's mentality spot-on!Those goody-two-shoes prudes who think officers "shouldn't drink, smoke, or cuss" obviously don't know Dick Jonas! They bloody well ought to, as should all the old anti-war protestors who bad-mouthed our Vietnam vets, and the LBJ-worshippers of the world and any surviving members of his Cabinet, especially Robert S. McNamara!

 Before I read the book, I had no idea who Yoshihiro Tatsumi is. He has been called "the grandfather of Japanese alternative comics" and he certainly deserves it.The Push Man and Other Stories is a collection of short stories previously published in Japanese, now translated and reformatted for the western audience by Adrain Tomine.In each story, Yoshihiro Tatsumi looks at a different facet of Japanese society. The main character is always a man filled with restrained angst, going about their daily jobs, ending with a solemn note. Every tale is filled with some form of sexuality -- sex, abortion, prostitution, etc.In the story "The Push Man", we're introduced to the pusher, whose job is to get commuters into packed trains by pushing them in. One day, he helped a lady whose clothes were torn from the pushing. They spent the night together and she invited him to her place the next day. The story ends with her sisters pushing each other away to get him. In "Telescope", a disabled guy committed suicide after being paid to watch someone else have sex. In "Test Tube", a sperm donor can't stop thinking about his recipient and eventually forced himself onto her. You can see that there are no happy endings here.The storytelling is masterly. Every story is told in a darkly comic style, short dialogues and cleanly laid out panels. Even without text, the stories will be easy to understand. Yoshihiro Tatsumi has a way of dissecting his characters, providing a very raw look at their hard and unforgiving life.The 16 stories are short. I like short if it means leaving the reader wanting more* at the end.It's highly recommended but certainly not for everyone.(More pictures are available on my blog. This first Drawn & Quaterly (lavish, beautiful hardcover) compilation of Yoshihiro Tatsumi's work, edited by Adrian Tomine, consists of 16 short stories, originally published in 1969. Most of them are very short, just 8 pages long, and appeared in a magazine called 'Gekiga-Young'. Two longer stories at the end of the volume are more in line with what we will find in the two later books of stories from 1970 ('Abandon the Old in Tokyo') and 1971-1972 ('Goodbye').An alternative title for this book could be 'The worst jobs in the world'. This is a list of occupations of the protagonists of these stories (all men): * Factory worker * Porn movies projectionist (when porn was yet illegal) * Garbage incinerator operator * Massage parlor ad-man (i mean, the guy walking the street with a placard saying 'Massage Parlor / Open 10 AM - 5 PM') * University lab intern / sperm donor * Pimp * Push man (one who pushes passengers into crowded rush-hour subway trains) * Sewer maintenance worker * Handicapped & unemployed peeping tom * Contract killer * Auto mechanic * Office clerk * Disinfector (one that cleans & disinfects phones) * Factory worker * Seal authentificator at an insurance company * ... and we don't know the job of the man in the last story, 'My Hitler', if he has one.Also, for the women, we get quite a few bar hostesses.As you can see, Tatsumi's work depicts the underbelly of the affluent urban Japanese society of the economic boom of the 60s, dealing with themes of existential alienation and sexual frustration. His focus is always humanist, he's not a Marxist toting party line slogans about the woes of the proletariat. He is direct and physical, yet elliptical and poetic at the same time. I am heavily reminded of Shohei Imamura's movies of the same period, like Criterion's 'The Pornographers' and the box-set 'Pigs, Pimps, & Prostitutes'.Now the bad news. Reading this book in one sitting can be a rather monotone affair. The stories, while good when taken on their own, tend to be very much alike when taken all together. I don't know to what extent this is Tatsumi's fault (being rather one-noted in the year 1969, certainly the 8-page limit didn't help either) or Adrian Tomine's fault (in not choosing two or three stories that diverged from the common pattern.) Certainly the stories in later volumes are more varied in setting, structure and subject matter, as well as having some women protagonists, too. We must also remember that the natural habitat for this stuff is a bi-weekly manga magazine, not a "graphic novel".Another qualm is the "Westernized" left-to-right format, that plays havoc with the original page layout. Hey, publishers, I've been reading manga in the original Japanese format for years now, and my head have not exploded yet, it's a myth!Despite these shortcoming this is a must read for all Gekiga aficionados, or adult (as in grown-up) comics readers in general. Or, even more in general, for readers of good literature.

These are Yoshihiro Tatsumi's stories from 1969, part of a series promoted by another comics artist whose works I always read: Adrian Tomaine. These stories could certainly be about real people, as we are all pretty weird under the skin. The stories are almost shocking in their twisted way, unless you've read some of Tatsumi's work before. Think of the most outrageous human behavior you can imagine, and it'll show up in one of Tatsumi's stories. If you're a fan of Yoshihiro Tatsumi or Adrian Tomaine, you won't want to pass this one up.

Gripping. Like potato chips you can't just have one. Savage, shocking, tender, at times morbidly hilarious. These are incredible short works by a master of story-telling. If you are even reading this review, that means you have gotten this far already. Buy this, borrow this, read these somehow. They will only enrich your life.

Most of the stories in this book aren't nice. After the first couple of stories, you start to feel the wincing in your face as you start a new one. They are very well illustrated and the storytelling is what makes you read every single one of them. It definitely makes me want to read his other work.

I've been a fan of The Human Chronicles since I discovered the series a few years ago. The author has a writing style that makes it easy to read and a story that makes you want to read. These books are patterned after the old serial novels of the 19th century where each book adds to the story, but you can jump in anytime and enjoy (although knowing the back story does help).This book is the best so far, imho, and lays the foundation for several future twists and turns - something you'll get used to as a reader. The unexpected is part of the fun. The interaction between the characters is another part of the fun. Mr. Harris has provided his characters with humor, wisdom, wit, attitude, and distinct characteristics that you will draw you into each character - some more than others. The evil villain, the hero, the supporting cast - they are all well written and developed.So get it - enjoy it - then go start with book 1 of the series and really get to know the characters that you were just introduced to.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of Adam Cain. And everyone was there except Airell! After so much genocide Kracion deserves a whole lot of Karma. It’s so sad that so many worlds are now missing from the galaxy. I love what Panur did with his strategy and his tactics will change the human/mutant dynamic in the future. And I hope that Nunki will do his part in stabilizing the universe. This was a thrill ride all the way. I was happy to here about Monty too. I’m also very glad to know that the next Human Chronicles will be coming out in April. I will look for the info on the FB page. I am as always an addicted fan!

The great joys of The Human Chronicles are the author's clever and well thought out resolutions for Adam Cain's trials and tribulations. No matter the situation, I am always surprised and delighted with the outcome.

This book was just as good as the rest of the Adam Cain novels. I found them all to be real page turners. I just had to keep reading to see what would happen next. I fully enjoyed this book and I am sure you will too
