I bought this book as a gift for my emoji enthusiast daughter. It's so much fun and it's huge! I was really surprised by the quality of this book and the pictures are fun and there's quite a variety. I kind of want my own copy and I don't even like emojis that much.

Please note, that the grammar mistakes are as they appear in the book. They go on to add "Authors of this book want to develop Children Alphabet without any harm to Nintendo Property." I swear, the best part about these knockoff how-to-draw/coloring books that Amazon sells are the nonsensical legal disclaimers written in broken English. But Enough of that. Let's get to the book.So the book says that it has "All 1st Generation Pokemons." There's a couple things wrong with that statement. The first is that anyone who knows anything about the Pokemon franchise knows that the plural of Pokemon is Pokemon, so right there in the title I'm already seeing reason to doubt that these guys know what they're doing. The second problem is that it isn't true. It's almost true, but not quite. Instead of Charizard they have Mega Charizard Y, which is from generation 6. If they had left out something like Porygon or Exeggcute I wouldn't care quite as much, but Charizard is quite possibly the most iconic gen 1 Pokemon after Pikachu. To screw up Charizard requires an exceptional degree of laziness, incompetence and ignorance of the franchise. If Charizard is your favorite Pokemon (as he is with my nieces and nephews) prepare for disappointment.Those issues aside, will the book actually teach you to draw Pokemon? Not really, no. The instructions are absolutely horrible for one simple reason: They try to do each Pokemon, no matter how simple or complex, in five steps. It doesn't matter if it's the very simple Voltorb or the very complex Venusaur, it's always five steps. They also don't make an effort to show what is added or taken away in each step. You just have to figure it out yourself. If you look at the cover photo you can see the examples of Machop, Pidgeotto and Magikarp, which all start off with multiple complex shapes in the first step. An experienced artist might be able to make use of this, but a small child won't be able to replicate it. Most likely kids will either end up using this as a coloring book or just trace the finished illustrations, which won't help them learn to draw in the slightest.The only redeeming feature that this book has it that, aside from Charizard, it does have all the 1st gen Pokemon. For an adult this might make for a decent visual reference, but for a child I really can't recommend it.

The book is everything my son has been wanting. It's perfect. The reason for the 4 stars is that my package was completely open as if someone cut open the envelope to see what was in there! I'm just glad it was only the book and it seems untouched and not damaged.

My great-nephew want books on how to draw and at his10th birthday party it just happen to be a Pokemon party.He and sister both enjoyed the the book very much.

I don't think it really helps much more than just looking at a picture of the Pokemon you want to draw. The "steps" aren't really helpful.

This book I bought for my grandson and he absolutely loves it. It was filled with easy directions and great pictures. That made a big difference to my grandson because he didn't think he was going to be able to copy the characters.

This book is very detailed in its instruction for the pokemon. I was tgrilled and so was my son.

Loved the TV show so we got the cookbook. Only tried a few recipes so far, but they've been good.

I love how the recipes are basic and traditional with easy-to-find ingredients. I've only made three recipes, and was surprised at the outcome. The jambalaya was outstanding and may replace the go-to recipe I've used for almost 25 years. But the King Cake recipe was a disaster (and I've been making King Cakes from scratch for two decades), and the Shrimp Creole is SO salty my family and I couldn't eat it. It calls for two teaspoons of salt PLUS 5 tablespoons of Creole seasoning (I use Tony's). I should've followed my gut instinct and held back on the salt, but I didn't, and now I've wasted $25 worth of shrimp plus all of the other ingredients. I would like to know if anyone else had this experience with this recipe!UPDATE: I've since made two more recipes: maque choux and the stuffed green bell peppers. Both were good, but a couple of things....maque choux traditionally has bacon in it, but this recipe doesn't call for bacon. However, I swear I see bacon in the photograph of the dish! The stuffed green peppers were a hit with my family, but there is a mistake in the recipe. It calls for 8 ounces of tomato sauce. At one point in the recipe, it says, "Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, and garlic." As any cook knows, this means to use all the tomato sauce because it doesn't specify otherwise. However, at the end, it says, "Pour remaining tomato sauce over peppers." What remaining tomato sauce?UPDATE 2: Last night I made the Redfish Sauce Piquante, and I found another discrepancy between the recipe and its photo. The picture shows a beautifully seasoned piece of fish, but the recipe calls for browning the fish with no seasoning. I followed the recipe and not the photo, and I believe that was a mistake. My whole family commented how the fish lacked flavor. If I make this again, I will season the fish before browning it. The sauce itself was pretty good, although I'm used to a Redfish Courtbouillon, which has a roux and I think the sauce would've benefited from a roux, both in terms of flavor and consistency. I also recommend cutting down on the Cajun seasoning, as the recipes in this book run on the salty side.

It's very well written and the type set is big enough to see without me having to squelch my eyes. The photos are colorful and the recipes are easy to follow. I.made gumbo which turned out very good. The book.is well made with a binding that can be wiped off easily if you spill on it

I have become a huge fan of his cooking show, and was excited to learn about this cookbook that correlates with the series. His no nonsense, humorous approach to cooking sealed the deal for me. I am inspired to cook something from it almost every time I watch him prepare a dish. Everything I have cooked thus far has turned out wonderfully--my favorite being the New Orleans Shrimp Etouffee. I have had to TWEAK a few dishes, but being a seasoned cook, that presents no problem for me. Each recipe has tips and beautiful color photos of the finished dish. He offers a bit of regional, as well as his family history at the beginning of each recipe. If you are looking for a specific ingredient that you do not have or cannot find, there are resources listed in the back of the book. Overall, this is a well written, easy to follow, entertaining cookbook and I highly recommend it!

There are categories of loving this book... size/dimensions, perfect ... open format showing 1 recipe on both facing pages... the larger size of the text.. education of the region & recipe but not a long commentary... great photography.. even love the embossing on the cover. Kevin's soul comes thru in each recipe & yet they are simple, uncomplicated but straight from a Cajun granny's heart. WELL DONE!

Like many others, I first discovered Chef Kevin on Create TV. I bought this book because I enjoy his show and wanted to make some of the recipes. I have made several of the recipes and they all turned put very well.. Granted, there are a few recipes I can't make, such as the turtle soup and anything calling for crawfish, because I'm in New Hampshire and we really can't get those ingredients up here. But that does not take away from the value of the book, as most of the recipes call for ingredients that we can get anywhere. I know you can probably sub shrimp for crawfish, just not sure what to sub for turtle meat. But if I ever see it in a store here, I might buy it just to try that soup. It did look good on TV.

We live in New Orleans, and this is the essential Creole cookbook that the locals use. Kevin Belton is a great personality as well - catch him on your local PBS if you can. This is the third time we have purchased this book as each time we have out of town guests, they go nuts over the food we serve, so we send them home with our copy of this book, a jar of creole seasoning, and a bottle of Crystal hot sauce. The recipes are very doable for an intermediate cook, and the ingredient list is brief and available at most US grocery stores (although I bet our shrimp is better than yours :). The most difficult part is learning to make a proper roux although Youtube will serve as a good tutor. Remember, Creole food is not hot spicy, just complex, rich, and flavorful.

Purchased as a gift for my mother who is no slouch in the kitchen. She says it is well worth every penny.

The books materials are very thin and mine was shipped in a yellow envelope so of course the book was damaged on arrival there is a tear in the spine its small but still when purchasing a book and at this price i would expect it to be shipped in a box. I would even pay extra just for the security.

If a serpent swallows the spittle of a fasting man, it dies. Trees felled in the wrong season breed termites. If eels are drowned in wine, those who drink it get a loathing for liquor. These and similar flights of fancy were articles of faith in the twelfth century—the era of the fascinating Latin prose bestiary translated in this volume. The translator is T. H. White, author of The Once and Future King and outstanding medievalist. Of The Book of Beasts, White writes: "No Latin prose bestiary has ever before been printed, even in Latin. This is the first and only English translation in print." The bestiary was a bestseller in the Middle Ages, a kind of natural history cum-zoological survey that presumed to describe the animals of the world and to point out the human traits they exemplified. Combining the surprisingly accurate with the endearingly phantasmagorical, the bestiarists came up with a bewildering array of real and exotic creatures. The behavior or attributes of the animals often functioned as a metaphor for teaching religious, moral, and political precepts. In addition to a multitude of real mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish, described here with varying degrees of zoological accuracy, the bestiarist introduces a swarm of fanciful denizens thought to haunt the Dark Ages: manticore, a creature with a man's face, a lion's body, and a ravenous appetite for human flesh; dragon or draco, the biggest serpent and the embodiment of the Devil; amphivia, a fish that could walk on land and swim in the sea; jaculus, a flying serpent; the familiar phoenix; the griffin; and other exotic fauna. Much of the charm of this edition lies in the copious footnotes compiled by T. H. White. With immense erudition, wit, grace, and a singular lack of condescension, the author illuminates literary, scientific, historical, linguistic, and other aspects of the bestiarist's catalog. He further enhances the volume with informative discussions of the history of the bestiary from its origins in remote oral traditions; through Herodotus, Pliny and Aristotle; during the medieval period and the Renaissance; and up to Sir Thomas Browne's Vulgar Errors (1646). Both amusing and amazing, The Book of Beasts is not only a rich survey of the proto-zoology on which much of our later science is based, but also a revealing, illustrated examination of how pre-scientific man perceived the earth's creatures. This book is amazing... It has so many drawings from the fabulous medieval creatures.It came in perfect shape, and super fast, I was excited to have it in my hands.This translation from a 12th century bestiary turned to be very quoted and famous.Excellent buy!

I bought this as a gift for my husband, he LOVED it! The book has very nice illustrations, and the translation is very nice to read! I will admit, it made me laugh, but overall extremely enjoyable!

The Book of Beasts. White's familiarity with the lore and his grace with language make this a must for anyone who cares about the Arthurian legend, as all students and teachers of English should.

I had to read this for school, and it basically talks about the different animals and their meanings and secret powers. There are some startling descriptions though, so I wouldn't read this to a child. Overall, it's a good translation of the original.
