Prior to reading this book I had done a fair bit of research into online brokers and having studied economics & accounting at university and worked in the fund management industry several years ago thought I had most of it covered. I was wrong. The thing about the internet is that all the information you need is there but if you don't know what you are looking for you won't find it. That is where this book excels. It tells you what you should be looking for AND points you in right direction to find further information as well as the tools you need for investing. Topics covered include; tracking your investments for performance results and tax purposes, the brokers and account types out there, analysis into the general workings of the stock market, asset allocation, stock screening tools, insider trading monitoring and a host of other tools and topics. The thing I really like about this book is that most of these books are written by people who have a financial interest in advising people or work for companies that do. Matt Krantz works for USA Today, yet despite the information and tools it offers, you never felt he was pushing you towards his companies site over any other. In fact if USA Today was mentioned at all, it was always after a number of other online resources which I liked.

I bought this book a few months back, and recently decided to get into investing online. I think it's a great book, very informative. I constantly refer to it to make sure I'm doing things right. If you're wanting to start investing online, check this book out. I'm a former US Marine Infantryman, so if I can understand it, a 5 year old can! Not too much fancy talk in there, so it's easy to follow. They should rename the book to "Investing Online for DUMMIES and MARINES".All joking aside, if you want a good "starter" book, check this book out. Like I said, I recently decided to actually invest, and I'm enjoying it.

This book is a fantastic introduction to investing. It describes in detail the types of stocks, various brokers and the amount of capital required, the amount of risk involved, etc. A great introduction A - Z !

I read this in about 1 week. The layout of the book is awesome allowing you to jump around as you need. The information is easy to understand but comprehensive enough to give you a firm grasp of the topic at hand. I am new to the investment world and have bought some more of this series to start my introduction to personal finance and wealth.

The book is easy to understand and thoroughly covers all investments. It is a reference book for me because it gives web sites where additional information and further examples may be obtained. It is very easy to read and is not boring at all.

I purchased this book for a friends daughter for Christmas. She loves to draw and enjoys drawing animé characters so I thought this would be perfect for her, and something a little more advanced that she can grow into. Once I received it, I thumbed through it to see what it was like. I loved what I saw so much, that I decided to order a second one for myself.I'm not a professional artist at all. I simply enjoying drawing when the mood strikes me. I don't draw from basic forms, like this book gives as step by step instructions, I draw from the finished product. In this case, I chose either the final pencil sketch or the colored version for my drawing. I read that some reviewers didn't feel it gave enough detail and instruction, but I didn't need it. I love it and might order the other books in the series some day in the future.

Another book that was pretty good for inspiration for a artist that is already familiar with drawing figures and clothing. It's quite intuitive and easy to pick up, it shows you every step to get to the final masterpiece.If you enjoy drawing and want to learn how to draw new creatures I would recommend this book.

From the first lines to colorized drawing, this is a great tutorial book. You will find help with the sketch and the colors. Both beginners and intermediate Manga artists will benefit from this wide ranging book.

Prior to getting this one, "Girls", and "Boys", I had two books from Ikari Studio. Now I have more in my arsenal of improving my drawing. This is, and other books by Ikari Studio, are must haves for those who love to draw anime and manga style!

This was an outdated calendar! I mean, I'll give it 2 stars because I should have looked at it more closely and will accept some of the blame. And my husband got a good laugh at my mistake. But by the time you reach Christmas, this calendar is 359 days outdated. And for this price, I could have waited until a few days after Christmas and grabbed a brand new calendar for the same price when they all go on 50% off sale.Oh well. Live and learn.

Great gift.Bought it for my FIL and he opened it right away and started reading off facts. I'd say it was a successful purchase.

I haven’t been able to work through this, but the book seems good. It appears to be well laid out and the exercises/content seems applicable. I wish I had time to work through it as I intended, but this will have to wait a few months.

This book has over 500 pages that cover Web Aps and only about 100 basic information pages on desktop applications. Screen shots were very light and very difficult to see. Web Aps are only available to people who have access to a share point server, SQL server, so that Access can be shared on the net. I do not recommend this book unless you are planning on writing Web Aps.

The "Step by Step" series of Microsoft books is one of my preferred products for Microsoft software releases and has always been a good investment when I migrate to new software versions. I remember days long ago where these Microsoft press books actually were part of your software purchase. Consequently, to gain more than marginal use of various office products, a user has to learn functions on their own or from information resources like this book and on-line tutorials. Microsofts "Help" search tool is of marginal value and is really only helpful for the very basic functions of each office product.I never fail to learn something new from each edition of this series. I find them helpful to learn new capabilities or reinforce information I've known from earlier releases. The organization and instruction in these manuals is much better than attempts by other "basic-use themed" books which provide only an overview at best; I've bought these on occasion and they are adequate for general use. This series provides me the information to know more than the basics. This series isn't all-encompassing, but quite thorough. For me, these books provide great information and instruction up to the intermediate+ level if needed/desired. After 20 years of Microsoft office use, I consider myself to be a competent and near expert user of each aspect of MS Office, but each release presents new capabilities and at times a change or removal of functions. These books have saved me a great deal of time and frustration. They remain part of my office library and are referenced often by both me and my colleagues. Great price point for the level of information. A well-constructed paperback reference book. I'd pay more and rate these as perfect if the book was made with slightly higher-quality paper and color images/pictures (heavy highlighting tends to bleed slightly through paper). However, for this price point, the book is adequate and better than many others in quality (the paper of others is similar to paperback novels/newspapers) and easily survives routine and frequent use/reference. Important text/tips are illustrated in blue/bold as a contrast to the predominant black text on white paper.

IRS no longer makes available their Pub. 17, therefor this publication, is very large, (862 pages) and fills the gap in helping taxpayers understand and fill out their tax reporting. IRS loves to collect taxes, but they sure don't help very much efforts to understand and prepare the required documentations. Lasser's Tax books are a big help for individuals who prepare their own tax submissions

I'm a CPA in public practice. I prepare tax returns and field questions. The CPAs I office with have copies of the book throughout their firm. When I asked questions or when they were asked questions by colleagues, JKL was one of first sources referenced. My tax library is used for the complex questions; JKL, for the simple issues. Frequently clients ask questions which would take pages of e-mail text to answer. I copy the relevant pages in JKL, scan, and send the answer. My "research" starts with the table of contents - in a few pages I know the chapter where the topic is discussed. The index is very well done. JKL is a great resource.

*Note: This is specifically for the Kindle edition. I own a kindle fire 1st gen.The book itself--meaning the content--seems fantastic. The problem is that the Kindle edition leaves something to be desired. Unfortunately, the tables are a little bit off and for some reason I have to swipe through the same page more than 10 times to get it to move to the actual next page. The first time it did this, I thought, "Meh...these things happen in book conversions." But, this multi-swiping of pages has happened roughly six or seven times already, and I'm only on the third chapter. It has made reading the book a bit of a chore, something that I'm sure the author never intended. It is probably a better idea to get the old-fashioned paper copy until this gets worked out. I do believe it is worth investing in the book. In the meantime, I'm hoping Amazon will allow me a paper copy.

I bought to this to use for an enrolled agent online CPE course, it was the first time I purchased one of these books and it was quite good. I used to get the Pub 17 free from the IRS office each year, but they quit printing them out and only have the online version, and to me the book is more convenient to use. Next year I plan on getting the small business income tax edition.

I'm an internet guy for most things, but it's great to have a printed reference for taxes. This guide has everything I could possibly want as a general reference. I have a medium-complicated tax situation and this guide has already paid for itself with the explanations it has provided me. It probably would be worth buying every year, but I only plan on buying a huge guide like this when there are major changes like there were with the 2018 tax year. The free IRS bulletins actually do a good job of covering changes in the years in between. This year, this is a must-have.

The best tax book on the market. I have a practice for 41 years and this book never quite on you. Great resource.

I would never consider doing my taxes or even having them done by someone else before I have read the newest edition of J. K. Lasser's Your Income Tax every year. I use Turbo tax, but you need to understand exactly what you are doing so that you get all your benefits and understand what you putting down. It is more important right now than ever before because the tax laws have gotten so hard to understand and so messed up that you can trip up and make a mistake very easily. There are even inconsistencies in the laws so that you need at least one excellent book to understand what you want to do and what you do not want to do.

I've been buying Lasser's guide to taxes for many years. I looked forward to this addition because of major changes due to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. As usual, they have clear and fairly easy instructions to fill out your tax forms. If the Dems (and some Conservatives) get their wish to hike income taxes to 50-70%, it'll be time to get a new Lasser's. Updates are available throughout the tax year.
