This collection of Linda Gregg's poems is just fantastic.

Linda writes like she's trying to write a great poem in an age when most poets just want to churn out poem after poem like poetry is a nine to five job. Buy this book.

This is a collection everyone should own.

I ordered this book when I read one of Linda Gregg's poems on the Writers' Almanac. I think she is a superior poet, so much to learn from reading her work.

I have been reading books of poetry that won awards from the Academy of American Poets and this is the first one I felt the need to write a negative review for. I found the poems shallow, generally uninteresting, and uninspiring.

Good Lord. I don't typically write reviews, but after checking this book out from the library and finding myself returning to it day after day, I came here to buy my own copy. That's when I saw the one lonely review is a terribly negative insider take-down.I beg to differ.Gregg's writing makes this old world new, with energetic phrasing and a simplicity of form that is easy to appreciate, difficult to create.And this collection combines her very best and more than twenty new.Google her name, read some of her poems online, then decide for yourself. As for me, I am grateful for her words.

Brilliant book. She writes honestly, with no posturing. Her work is subtle, exquisite.

Gregg's work has been from the beginning consistently timid, cramped and imitative, characterized by a failure to believe in her own voice, stand on her own feet, or take any chances.I always wanted to believe that she is capable of more, but with this collection I guess it's time to give up. I guess she really wants to be a Jack Gilbert sock puppet. Maybe this is what she can do. It's sad and very hard to respect.

Waste of money! Very little info here and nothing in the print version that directs you to the links listed in the book.

Not quite what I was expecting. I consider myself a beginner, but this book is more of a collection of where to find links to websites. I had already discovered most of the items and websites before I read the book. There is very little programming described in the book. You are better off finding resources for free on the Internet. I bought it based on the recommendation from Amazon and the reviews, plus it is labeled as a Best Seller. Granted, the price is only a few bucks, but I could have coupled the few bucks to another book that would have been worth my time to read.

Very misleading title. Should be "Beginner to slightly informed". Nothing is in the book that couldn't be very quickly found online (probably even on the official Pi website). Perhaps I had too high expectations for the book, but it certainly isn't worth the $12 I payed. If it were under $4 perhaps.

Disappointed with this book. It's pretty short and I found it lacking in information. It has a lot of general product information. There's a section dedicated to show you how to buy a RPI. I was expecting more substance and wish I bought something else instead.

All information in this book can very easily be found online. It is only 89 pages long & the lettering is very bold. This is a complete ripoff. All the info is very simple, by no means will you be a "pro" by the end. This is a very basic pamphlet, that is all.

Not enough detail to be considered worthy of a pro. To me, "step by step" implies there would be detail in its pages. It's okay for a beginner but, for the money, it's no bargain. It's only 90 pages and, had I known that (I didn't look) and looked inside at the large font and good amounts of white space, I'd have realized that it was really only fitting for a beginner. Nothing is in-depth, there's no index, etc. So, bottom line, it's okay but, should only be about $5.00.

This book is completely RAD! It contains information on choosing and installing the right operating system on your RPI3, lessons on wiring your RPI to devices such as switches, motors, and LEDs, detailed step-by-step instructions on creating your own media streaming device to turn your old HDMI TV or monitor into a smart TV that can connect to your home media server, turning your RPI3 into a retro gaming emulator, and even building your own arcade cabinet. This book has way more useful hobbyist information than I imagined, and I never thought that the "purchased together with" section on Amazon would prove so useful. A+

86 pages (barely) of random information that purport to show you how to boot the Pi and run a couple of small examples followed by some generic project ideas and a section on "advanced circuits" typified by how to wire in a motor. The few code examples are undocumented and far too specific to be generally useful.My favorite part of the book was the following set of instructions from the arcade cabinet project, "3. Cut and assemble the rest of the arcade cabinet. 4. Remove any electronics, and either paint or stain the wood. Add clear coat for a smooth surface."If zero stars was an option then that's what I'd give Mr. Short's "book." There are much better sources of information elsewhere. Don't waste your money. I'm returning my copy for a refund.

I've read virtually every book on vegan/plant-based health and this one is one of my favorites! As the title implies, it is incredibly comprehensive. It covers every single nutrient you'll be incessantly pestered about as a vegan... Where do you get your protein? Omega 3's? B12? Iron? Zinc? Selenium?.... On and on and on... Instead of trying to dig through the sincerely questionable advice being regurgitated across the blog-o-sphere, it's so much easier to have a well-written, well-researched guide available at any time. Get this book, learn how to feed yourself, and rock on as a super healthy, long-term, successful, and knowledgable vegan!

After reading Becoming Raw, I felt that my diet was sub-par, to say the least. I had started a raw diet several months previous to reading Becoming Raw, following the advice of several "experts," much of which turned out to be dangerous to my health. I decided a completely raw diet was not healthful for me, and returned to veganism with cooked foods and ordered this book for guidance because I so trusted the authors.Becoming Vegan is the most thorough (and easy-to-read) book on veganism that I have found, and has a ton of research for further study. The authors are both registered dieticians and completely honest about the often-missed and neglected areas of veganism. They offer easy and doable suggestions on correcting imbalances in the diet.After taking the information in this edition to heart and putting it into practice, my follow-up lab tests have confirmed that many of the imbalances and problems I had previously, before reading Becoming Raw and Becoming Vegan, have been corrected. Those that have not been corrected completely are showing improvement with time. I highly recommend Becoming Vegan, for anyone considering or already following a vegan lifestyle.(As a side note, Cooking Vegan - the "companion" to this book - is often mentioned in Becoming Vegan. The recipes are very simple and I could see how it may help a person unfamiliar with veganism to more easily adapt; I would not recommend for long-time vegans, though.)

For anyone who needs to be a total herbivore, this is an excellent source and resource for the nutrition aspects of veganism. It deserves a 5-star rank. That said, there are a few things a buyer should know.Don’t let the first chapter put you off. That’s the one about the philosophical/environmental/Progressive/animal rights need for Vegans. The authors get that over with early and don’t bring it up again. If that’s all you care about, you will be disappointed. However if you are facing life-threatening illness and need to know the nutritional aspects of your food, this book is for you.There is quite a bit of repetition, much of it unnecessary. The trouble there is the resultant huge size of the Index, which makes it hard to look up subjects. There’s just too much. Sometimes I could not tell which letter of the alphabet was showing. That should be corrected with dictionary guides in the upper corners of the pages.Some items are clearly unnecessary. I would argue that the niacin content of durians is irrelevant. Most people who can read this book (i.e. English speaking) would not venture anywhere near a durian.I purchased this book because it was recommended by Michael Greger, M.D. (“How Not to Die”). If you have to go herbivore and need a good nutritional reference, this is it.

This book was a great read. I actually started with the Kindle version and ended up also getting the paper version because I wanted to continually refer back to various parts of it for nutritional information. I have been vegan over a year now and found this book a comprehensive addition to my nutrition library that anyone trying to be vegan at any level could use. It is written in ways that a non-nutritionist can deal with but is also very thorough. If you are considering going vegan, whole food plant based for health reasons alone, which is what I did, then you might find the first chapter on animal issues a bit too much and you could skip it and not miss anything relative to diet. However, if you are driven by animal issues as well as health issues then don't skip the first chapter. Readers learn about the wolves' social structure, habitat, survival skills, and physical characteristics. The text explains how coastal wolves differ from other wolf populations in size, coloring, and swimming ability. Advocacy for their survival permeates the book, especially the concluding chapter, where the authors admonish readers to change "our greedy, short-sighted ways." The only humans they admire are First Nations people, who have coexisted peacefully with wolves in the GBR for hundreds of years. The book's style is informal and conversational. Very important book with great pictures

Do you love nature? Does learning about wildlife appeal to you? Are you a fan of wolves? Then The Sea Wolves: Living Wild in the Great Bear Rainforest is an ideal pick for you. I'm a huge fan of all three so picking up this book from the library was a must for me. It's definitely one of my favorites now. I love how easy it is to read; a ten year old can learn as much from this book as a forty year old. And who can forget the stunning, mesmerizing photographs? I was held in awe learning about not only the amazing sea wolves but about the Great Bear Rainforest and the other animals and plant life that inhabit it. However, the ending was bittersweet to me. I love the author's message that we must protect our wildlife at all costs. But it saddens me to think that there are so many people that don't want to preserve it. They would prefer to eradicate all wolves because they falsely perceive them to be monsters. But we share so many similarities with them. Maybe that's why I love this book so much. Even though we have our differences, we still have so many similarities, more than we think. A must for wolf and nature lovers.

This is an excellent resource. The content of this book is spot on - for readers of all ages, too. Mr. McAllister's photography is nothing short of magnificent. If you love books about wildlife, this is one you want for your collection. And, it makes a wonderful gift for the holidays. Ian McAllister is the Conservation Director of Pacific Wild. There is much going on in British Columbia right now that threatens the Great Bear Rainforest ecosystem and its wild inhabitants, including its coastal wolves and bears. The Sea Wolves: Living Wild in the Great Bear Rain forest doesn't live up to its sensational precursor, The Salmon Bears: Giants of the Great Bear Rainforest. How disappointing, that. If in The Salmon Bears the authors seemed to personally address young people, the tone of this book is as if young readers were spoken down to, being explained to about the wolves social structure, habitat, survival skills, and physical characteristics at a long length. The sidebars are redundant, too, explicating what has already been written in the text. The photography is marvelous, however, breath-taking, even, considering how difficult it must be to capture such candid shots of wild wolves. It is a plea to save this glorious, little known rain forest, and to encourage students to become aware of the negative impact of modern man upon his earth; it is absolutely chilling to discover the meaning of `silent rivers'.

Barry Shelby was born 1960 in Berkeley, California, where he later attended the University of California. He received a master's degree in journalism in 1984 from Northwestern University in Illinois.
