Small book, waterproof cover. The book itself is a good backpackers style book. The content will get you by in many basic situations. Had several pages devoted to people who were obviously sex tourists. Kind of weird being as it was quite explicit. Small text, but to be expected. After 28 days in Thailand, I never used this book, although I did read it twice, as well as practice phrases with it although I had better luck using online videos to get the pronunciation correct. I used google translate once, and a Thai person once instantly produced a tablet with a translate app. It seems most Thai's have at least minimal English I will take it to Thailand next year when I go again and try harder to travel to areas where I might use it more. If purchase price is an issue I would skip it and do independent research. If you had no time, this would be an ok choice. as it was delivered prompt and not very expensive.

I bought this book for my 3 week trip to Thailand. I was impressed with how useful the different phrases were. The book is well organized, and logically begins with a brief explanation of their pronunciation symbols. Of the many tourists and locals I spoke with, most were impressed with the dozen or so phrases I memorized from the book. This purchase is well worth your time and money; it will greatly improve your Thailand experience.

I visited Thailand for 3 weeks and bought this in preparation, but never ended up using it because the people there are all so friendly. They don't call it the 'Land of Smiles' for nothing. Even though I didn't use it, it's still a great little book with tons of information! I wish I had looked at it a little more while I was there.

It was hard to use and didn't put the most obvious and necessary phrases in the front. Too hard to search through when you needed a phrase quickly. This was also hard to use because the pronunciation was completely different than the way the word is written.

Very comprehensive for travelers! Everything is divided into color coded categories. Front flap has every-day phrases for a quick go to. Small pocket sized for light carrying. At times I found myself reading it for fun!

Great purchase for an introduction into Thai language. I have purchased other educational material on Thai language and this is a convenient pocket book for on the go study and is a great asset for traveling around Thailand.

Must read before a visit to Thailand, has common phrases that will be useful in day to day life.

This is the 4th book in this series that we have purchased for out toddler, and each one is just as good as the last. The illustrations are are phenomenal, the text simple but very informative, and everything comes together beautifully. I am certain that this book and series would be age appropriate for children as old as 8, but certainly are very good for curious toddlers as well. So happy to have found this series!

About Marsupials is the title so the book is about...marsupials, of course. It's non-fiction. I really think everyone would like the book. I think someone who likes animals would especially like to read it. The glossary of facts in the back of About Marsupials is the most useful part. I thought the most interesting parts were that some marsupials have their pouch at their back legs and one marsupial, the Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby, is very small but can jump 13 feet wide!4-8 age range would like this book. Even though it's not a story book, 4 year olds would like the few words on each page and they would love the beautiful pictures. But older kids would like it because of all the facts in the back of the book. There's a lot of information for each animal. I think boys and girls (and parents) would enjoy reading it. About Marsupials is not just a book to entertain a child it will awaken their minds and educate them about marsupials. It will definitely be entertaining, there are so many unusual looking animals. Most of the marsupials are found in Australia. We are familiar with the Kangaroo and the Koala Some marsupials may have upward facing pouches and others have pouches that face their back legs in order to safely carry their babies as they grow. Red-neck Wallaby babies stay in the pouch popping in and out for as long as eight months.One marsupial is very common her in the southern part of the United States and that is the Virginia Opossum. In fact have to bring in the cat food every evening because there is a family of opossums that eat right along with my cats. But they have to beware of my dogs. My dogs scare the opossum so bad the opposum falls over playing possum, that means they pretend they are dead, which really confuses their attackers.I find it sad to say that some marsupials are extinct and some on the endangered species. Their habitats being destroyed by humanity.The author provides information about the characteristics of the marsupials and their habitats. She also gives facts on what they eat and whether they hunt food during the day, night, or maybe even both. The author and illustrator put this series together in a way that young children and even adults will enjoy and learn, looking at creatures in a whole new way. The illustrators paintings are so life like I thought they were photo images.I highly recommend all of the books in the About ... series.Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from Peachtree Publishers for review. I can't praise these books highly enough; the illustrations are very appealing, the text is clear and simple without being babyish, and the layout is inviting. Each double page spread features a charming picture of a particular marsupial on the right side, and a clean white page with anywhere from one word to one sentence describing an attribute of the marsupial pictured that also applies to other, sometimes all marsupials.The simple text and layout make the book appealing as a read-aloud text for toddlers and preschoolers (my almost 3 yr. old loves this series) as well as an excellent choice for emerging readers.It can be difficult to find high-quality nonfiction texts for the preschool and early elementary crowd, but this book and it's companions are a perfect choice. My 8 yr. old, who struggles with reading, enjoys these because they are within his grasp but are not oversimplified or dull.At the end of the book are a few pages with thumbnails of each illustration accompanied by slightly more in-depth information about each animal. I read just a few of these at a time to my 3 yr. old, to match his comprehension and attention span; they are a very nice 'bonus' to an aleady delightful book. Very highly recommended.

The 10th in a series of "About...A Guide for Children" books, ABOUT MARSUPIALS is a representative example of this terrific series. The "About...A Guide for Children" books are great nonfiction titles for the preK - 2nd grade set, each focusing on one type of animal (marsupials, mammals, birds, reptiles). The books are laid out in two-page spreads, eaching providing a very brief fact (for example, "Some marsupials do not have a pouch") and a beautifully detailed illustration of a specific type of animal. The large colorful pictures and the brief text make these terrific nonfiction additions to storytime and other read-aloud activities.

I love Cathryn Sills science books. They cover the subject thoroughly and with the beautiful illustrations and simple text, the concepts are easily grasped by the younger students. This is a must have book for lower elementary school teachers. This book is excellent for second and third graders.

The font is incrediblely small in this book. Not a very interesting book. Some of the pictures are just poor quality.

Well Blaine Taylor has once again published another mediocre book. If you have brought any previous books by the author on this subject, you will not see anything new here -- and I do mean anything. The same old tired worn out photos that have appeared in thousands of other publications. And many of the photos are fuzzy and look like they have been copied from other books with a 1960's copy machine. I should have learned from his earlier book on the Fuhrer's HQ's, as that was just as bad as this one. The only good thing I can say is that, fortunately I did not pay full price. I have already pre-ordered his upcoming book on Albert Speer and will now cancel my order. With the access that this man has to the major archives of the world, especially the NARA in DC, one would think that he could come up with better and unpublished photos. Save your money.

The book is absolutely an insight in 3.rd Reich and the part ofthe most today involving device of human history: automobile!Full of original pictures of Adolf and his friends with a lot of othersin this beautifully car!A must in the library of this part of history!

Great resource on an obscure era for Mercedes-Benz. The book is full of images and technical data.

I have just finished reading this book and it still does not answer the question that I had before reading it. What colors do I paint the G4? I believe that the author mentions that Hitler's G4 was beige at some point and then he points out several times later that the vehicle was later painted in "Wehrmacht Grey" whatever official shade that is. The problem being that the photos that he indicates as "Wermacht Grey" appear to be the same color as the beige vehicles so has he mislabeled the photos or do the captions apply to the photos of obviously darker-colored flat finish vehicles (dunklegrau perhaps)? What are the German designations of the paint? This simple question could have been answered with ONE page of color profiles.The major problem is that this isn't a reference book on the G4 but is essentially a picture book of Hitler & Hitlerites on tour interspersed with many pages of pointless quotes from other books such as "Hitler's Personal Security" (which I own) and even quotes from the author's previous works(!) And while I'm on the subject, there are MANY useless photos of the Fuhrer and his minions which have nothing at all to do with the G4. The book could have easily been 1/3 to 1/2 the size by weeding out the useless filler.Any technical information is thinly spread across the volume and in photo captions. It would have been much better having a technical section listing the specs and variations of the vehicle with an intelligent choice of illustrations. Photo captions should have been concise and to the point. Line drawings would have been nice and a color profile page would have been icing on the cake. As a previous reviewer noted there are a number of poorly scanned, artifact-covered photos that could have easily been cleaned by simply choosing the right scanner setting in the first place...While I applaud Schiffer for publishing this work, I wish that they would have agressively edited the book for it is clearly and dearly in need of such. I considered giving it a one star rating for the truly pointless ramblings in text and photos but then thought I'd give two stars because there are also quite a few useful photographs but then realized that I would only be fooling myself in thinking that I really didn't just waste $39.95 on this book. One star it is. I would not consider purchasing another work written by this author.

Gee, I liked this book, guess I'm not as sophisticated as the other reviewers. Anyway, Schiffer publishes a very nice product, I mean it is a quality book binding job. Too bad the big name companys do not go to the same level of effort. Content, packed with pictures! Yes, some are obviously reprints from old newspapers but that is better than nothing. Most images however are very crisp. Text is interesting, never knew how many and what type of vehicles equipped Der Fueher's convoys until now. Armed with this knowledge alone I imagine I will construct a very long and thin diroma depicting a G-4 motorcade. All in all, if you are interested in the G-4 mystic, I recommend this book. It was worth the price to me.
