About the Author

Thomas E. Getzen is Professor of Risk, Insurance and Health Management  at Temple University and the founder and Executive Director of iHEA, the International Health Economics Association. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Yale University, he worked for the U.S.P.H.S. Centers for Disease Control Venereal Disease program in New York and Los Angeles, and then obtained an MHA degree in Medical Care Organization and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington. Dr. Getzen’s main research contributions have been in the areas of contracting, price indexes and forecasting of health care spending. His consulting work has included employee benefit negotiations, laboratory diagnostics, risk assessment, and capital financing for managed care. Dr. Getzen has been a visiting professor at the University of York (U.K.), the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Center for Health and Wellbeing of the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He has served on the boards of Covenant House, a local community health center in Northwest Philadelphia, MSI, a venture-capital financed managed behavioral health care corporations, CHE, a large provider system with over 60 hosp itals and nursing homes. Dr. Getzen is a member of the editorial boards of Health Economics and the Journal of Health Administration Education.

I'm not impressed. I've had a lot of textbooks and the material is over elaborated. It is almost like the chapters are elaborated more than necessary to make the book longer. It also is very opinionated and it feels like the author just wanted to be done with it.

My only fault with the book is that it does not offer any audio accompaniment. Would have been nice addition as I spend a great deal of time in the car, working full time, often overtime while going to school, and raising 3 kids. Time management is the ultimate win when you are already stretched very thin.

Excellent book that explains why the health system in USA is so complicated, expensive, and ineffective. Does an excellent job of describing what healthcare should do, and compares USA with other countries where healthcare actually works. It is not naïve when it assess other countries solutions as not necessarily applicable to USA, but takes the better ideas, and gives some hope.

If you have a favorite Straw Hat, they each get their chance to shine going up with the Baroque Work members. Each fight is memorial in their own way. Of course, Luffy's fight with Crocodile is awesome! It does help that Crocodile is still one of my favorite One Piece villains.The ending of the acr where the Straw Hat crew say their good bye's to Vivi and Alabasta is one of the most iconic moments I remember in the anime. Seeing the chapter that was the original iconic scene was great to read.

I adore this author, the way she writes, the descriptive words she uses, and how somehow, she makes it so that I know each character personally, and with all of that talent, she still manages to know all of her stuff!Roberta Kagan, did an outstanding job with this book! It is longer then most books, I guess, depends on what you consider long:)I could have read 700 more pages!She is very different in her way of writing, and I love it! This is a book I want to see as a movie someday and I will be re reading this for some time to come. In the meantime, I will be grabbing what I can from this author, and thinking about Leah and Detrick.(the 2 main characters in this story)This book is all about Germany, Hitler, the war, and 2 people who are madly in love, and unfortunately, they are on different sides.This book starts out fresh and grabs your attention immediately. Matter of fact, there aren't any boring spots, any dullness, there is constantly something happening and you will sit on the edge of the seat, with your eyes burning from reading for 3 hours and your husband will ask when in the world are you turning that thing off and going to sleep?? Do you know it's 3am?? Your response will probably be similar to what mine was, **chirp** **chirp** I didn't even hear him, the first 2 times.This book will be read the whole way through the first time around and you may even re start it as soon as you're done!This is a very terrible part of history, something that still eats at many of us, and to be able to read Roberta's story about how this affected these 2 families, is like traveling back in time, and watching this unfold right before your eyes!**I was given a copy of this book in return for my honest review**

Overall this book was really good, and pulled at my heartstrings. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to read about WWII and the hardships that the Jews and the Gentiles went through during this time. The love story between Detrick and Leah was so heartfelt, I found myself crying throughout the book. Same goes for the relationship Detrick had with Leah's father, Jacob. I loved the side stories throughout the book - especially Dorothy's and Helga's, which both left me very emotional.The reasons I gave this book a 4 star and not a 5: 1. The short chapters. I believe the book had a total of 128 chapters, and the book wasn't that long. With all of the chapters each "scene" seemed cut short. But at the same time I understand why Kagan made the chapters short- she had a lot of ground to cover (many years) and tried to keep things somewhat fast paced to keep the reader interested, which I do appreciate, but at the same time it was a little annoying.2. Grammar. A lot of reviews I read before purchasing this book mentioned that there were a lot of typos. I've read lots of books with "so-claimed" typos and half the time I don't notice them or it's never bad enough to bother me. However, this book has lots of typos and they are pretty bad, and this is coming from someone that is not a grammar police in the least.3. I felt the ending was abrupt. Throughout reading the book I knew they were building up for the big ending and when it finally happened everything went by so fast, and next thing I know its 20+ years later.Overall, this was a great read. Kagan is an amazing storyteller- I couldn't put this book down. Buy it. Read it!! :)

Unfortunately, as the years progress, Detrick finds himself in a very difficult and dangerous situation. Not only is he friends with Jacob, Detrick falls in love with Jacob's daughter. Why the danger? Detrick is German and Hitler and the Nazi's are now in charge.This is a difficult book to review because I have both pros and cons.Pros:-I like the topic of a WWII setting in a novel.-I really liked the main characters of Detrick and Jacob Abdenstern and the father/son type relationship that they formed especially when Detrick's own father fell short in many ways.-I admired Detrick for standing up for what he believes in no matter the cost.-Overall, the story line held my interest and there were a few surprises.Cons:-I found myself scrolling back and forth and rereading sections because the chronology seemed off in parts.-There were some awkward sentences and misspellings that made certain parts a bit tedious to read. I usually don't comment on grammar/spelling errors unless it impacts the story, and unfortunately it did in parts of this book.-Some of the historical facts were not accurate.In the end, I'd give this novel 3.5 stars.

Another great product from Dover. I love their line drawings of plants and animals, and so do my students, who use them for inspirations.

This was a Christmas stocking gift and they love it. They are using it almost daily, they love art of any kind and this was very nice, i was told.

LOTS OF IDEAS

Actually got this for my son to do his scrapbooking and story writing. He hasn't started using it yet, but I use it to make personalized stationery. It is good, but you can't really save the pictures and you have to install part of the disc to view the pics.

These images are not good... hasty, a bit crude, childish and in some cases sort of tortured looking. The defining characteristics of each species is hard to make out. A disappointment.

This book has everything implied in the title.Really useful for clip art of learning to drawbirds. The cd is helpful if using online.

Smiling, benevolent birds and animals, ranging from kittens and bunnies through penguins to elephants, frolic across the pages of this collection, many including large blank spaces on which lettering could be applied. A chick bursts out of the egg, a raccoon pops up from a hollow stump, geese float on a pond, This Little Pig sets off to market with his basket at the ready, a mouse and a rabbit tune up on fiddles, a chipmunk prepares to enjoy a nut, an otter rolls a ball, a bear enjoys a bubble bath, squirrels create a snowman, a sleeping puppy waits to be discovered by the child whose Christmas stocking he occupies, and many more. There are 189 illustrations total, each one different. Animal lovers of all ages should find it charming.

I work at an aviary and love to use these drawings when I'm doing graphic design. They're great! I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about. I simply downloaded all the images to my computer and then use them in Adobe design programs. They have so many bird species, it's really wonderful.

I have been in love with the Ramsey and Grant clans forever. Since I discovered my first story. The generations that have come after have legends to follow but these cousins are creating their own legacies.I just finished this story and can't wait for the next. The books are all standalone but you miss out on the delight of the series of you don't read them all.

Reading this series from the very beginning is like watching your own family grow. To see how each son or daughter change & find the path they want to follow. Over coming odds they face, including parents who do not believe in them.I can’t wait for the next book & I certainly hope it’s about Gregor & Conner.

I really like Me Montclair's highland stories but I was hoping this one would be a little bit more intriguing.

Another brilliant book by Montclair! The story line is amazing, the love story is beautiful and you can help but fall in love with these characters all over again. And there are a few knew ones you will love to hate. They will add some wonderful suspense filled mystery. This is a book that you will have hard time putting down. It is another masterpiece. If you haven’t read any of her other books start at the beginning. You will not regret it!

I have read the whole series. I read book 5 yesterday and started book 6. I couldn’t put them down. I’ve finished book 6 now it was great. Now I’m looking for book 7. I didn’t think the kids would have as good of stories as their parents did but I was wrong.

Love reading her works. Started the book and couldn't put it down till finished. Can't wait to get the next book in the series.

Another great book by Mrs. Montclair!! I've loved this series since the beginning with Alex and Maddie and this book did not disappoint! I can't wait to read Gregor and Connor's stories next!

This is a really good book about alcoholism. There are many, many memoirs about drinking. I've read a fair few. This is a particularly good one. Hepola brings a particularly incisive introspection to her tale of drinking too much and getting sober. Hepola managed to be very successful while an alcoholic. She completed her education and became a writer. Blackouts were probably the most frightening thing about Hepola's alcoholism. Her brain was so alcohol-addled that it was unable to remember- the drug was literally circumventing one of the primary functions of the brain. Her accounts of these blackouts- what it was like to come out and to try and figure out what happened, are evocative. It is clear that Hepola is a talented writer. She is able to narrate her experience brilliantly. This is one of the best addiction memoirs I've read.

As a recovering alcoholic with 2.5 yrs sober, living in Austin, with several decades of service in the bar scene here? There were times when I wondered if I had written this in a blackout of my own? Brilliantly and savagely recorded. I loved every word, and gathered renewed strength from her insights and observations. I will be passing this out to my friends...and maybe a highlighted copy for mom?

She had a couple of unfortunate incidents with alcohol when she was way too young but after one particularly bad experience, she was able to reign it in and fly under the radar. She made it through high school and college while binge drinking, occasionally blacking out and annoying her friends from time to time. I'm her 20's and 30's, Sarah drank her way through Austin, Dallas and NYC while establishing herself as a journalist. As most of her rowdy friends began to settle down, Sarah found herself frequently being invite to lunch during which her friends told her they "needed to talk." Her behavior was getting more noticeably out of control and undesirable as her friends were growing up but she was still drinking like she was in college.Finally, Sarah had enough and found the courage to stop drinking for real. She was expecting her life to immediately fall into place as soon as she stopped drinking but found it was a huge struggle to assimilate herself into a lifestyle which did not include alcohol. She had always assumed her life would become uninteresting when she was no longer the party girl but was happily surprised to find her new life eventually became full and much better.WHAT I LOVEDI am amazed by Sarah Hepola's honesty. It must have been very painful to be that honest with not only herself and millions of strangers, but to maintain that level of honesty knowing her parents, friends and frenemies would be reading all the drunken details of her life was so brave!I love her writing style, she's so darn funny!!! There was not a single part in the book that I skimmed or found tedious. She caught my attention on the first page and never lost it.WHAT I DIDN'T LOVENothing! There was nothing I didn't love about this book. It is so well written, honest and I cannot find anything to critique in this book.
